Her Story
Cassie Bernall stared down a gun barrel and declared her faith in God before she was killed. The character she displayed with those few words expresses what many people have prayed for through the centuries: the ability to deal with death, suffering, and loss still believing in God.

So where was God on April 20, 1999, when 13 innocent people were murdered? This is what the world is asking. Is there anyone out there who can give an answer? Yes, you can. What satan meant for evil, God turned around for good. Use this 40-Day Challenge, dedicated to Cassie Bernall and the others, to demonstrate your faith. Satan, because he is nearsighted and lacks self-control, could never have predicted the impact of this horrible move. Is there even one student, teacher, or principal who has not been stirred by this tragedy? All eyes are looking for the answer. Cassie spoke at her own funeral. Two days before she died, she had a part in a church video in which teens spoke of their faith. "I just tried not to contradict myself, to get rid of all the hypocrisy, and just live for Christ." Her radiant face, smiling larger than life, was seen on a huge video screen. She had no way of knowing she soon would be known worldwide as the Colorado girl who died for Christ.
